FRANKFURT (AFX) - The Association of German Steel Producers expects 2005
domestic production to reach a record 47 mln tonnes, up from 46.5 mln this year
and ahead of its earlier expectations.
The group said last month it expected production to remain flat in 2005
because domestic producers were already operating at almost 98 pct capacity.
It sees worldwide steel production at 1.1 bln tonnes in 2005.
In addition, raw material prices will continue to rise.
"A short-term dip in raw material prices is unfortunately not in sight,"
Dieter Ameling, president of the industry group said.
