FWIW - So according to the Scotsman there is only a slim chance that BSB's next purchase will be THUS and PIPEX is more likely.
Not that I would profess to know better and as a shareholder hanging in for such a deal, I would really not be that objective.
However it looks to me that THUS offers far better value than PIPEX. Maybe not with the immediate synergies for a predominantly residential proposition, however:
They already have a working relationship with the CPS services and now the new Sky Interactive TV portal launched in the summer:
There may be more sense to a deal than conventional wisdom would perceive.
As the Etv proposition does give BSB a vantage point into the Corporate Telco market on the supply side. If this is the case then, then there may be more this than firsts meets the eye....
These links are worth a look-see!
I also think that our mate Bill Allen would be impossible to woo. Wriggling tremendously and resisting any kind of courtship. He is just not the romantic type. I doubt that BSB would consider going hostile because that would be very messy.
However the Easynet deal was much sweeter than the market was expecting, and that is a fact that would not have been lost on THUS's larger institutional shareholders......mentioning no names in particular.... but their name starts with a G and end with an S!!
