Energyi I've thought about the Tsunami /gold situation. The dead and homeless (tragic as it is of course), are of miniscule proportion to the populations of these territories. My own experience is of Indonesia and Singapore. The significant centres of commerce are unaffected. Sumatra is of course badly so, but is very outlying.
More to my point, the disaster hit largely on poor folk and fishing communities, dockside workers etc. The number of people likely to possess any meaningful quantities of gold or metals to sell due to destitution, that is, more than say $100 worth in value, will only be a few thousand in total of the possible 5 million displaced and affected IMO.
It could be that the markets, seeing thin trading, can manupulate using the Tsunami as an excuse to do so.
