Wall Street metals - Gold gains for fifth session; platinum, palladium off
NEW YORK (AFX) - Gold futures rose for a fifth session Thursday, bolstered
by physical demand and fund buying.
Gold for February delivery was up $2.60 at $518.90 an ounce. Silver added
3.5 cents to $8.97 an ounce.
Other metals came under pressure after their recent runup. Platinum dipped
$6.10 to $965 an ounce and palladium was off $3 at $262.
Copper fell 3.5 cents to $2.034 a pound.
On the supply side, copper inventories were unchanged at 6,752 short tons as
of late Wednesday, according to the Nymex. Gold supplies were unchanged at 6.49
million troy ounces and silver stocks were flat at 119.9 million troy ounces.
