what kind of instruments do you think their playing with? i dont think you need to worry whether POG uses synthetic collatralised debt obliagtions or complex swaps based on teh Brazilian Real and its doubtful if anyones elses exposure to these kind of structured products would effect, what id guess is, theyre either long or short future or option hedges, on X amount of future production, dependant on whther they think the price is going up or down.
ultimately i dont think a derivative implosion would be centred around Gold, so i dont believe its cause for concern to mining shareholders, but i dont know, it dpends on the structure of their positions?
