NEW YORK (AFX) -- Gold futures closed higher for a third consecutive day
Tuesday, bolstered by fresh reports of physical demand for the metal. Gold for
February delivery closed up $4.90 at $510.10 an ounce. Silver ended up 16.70
cents at $8.812 an ounce, platinum added 10 cents to $965.40 and palladium rose
45 cents to $258 an ounce. Copper futures ended up 2.80 cents at $2.0675 a
pound.
