HarrierZeuros Secures Cisco Specialist Status
Reading, Berks - 11th January 2001 HarrierZeuros Ltd, a division of Harrier Group plc (AIM: HRR), announced today that it has met Cisco System's rigorous certification requirements and are now one of only ten Advanced Security Specialist Partners (ASSP) in the UK.
Well things appear to be improving for Cisco which can only be good news for HRR:
update CHICAGO--Networking giant Cisco Systems' stock rose 8 percent Thursday after two analysts commented positively on the company's ability to gain market share and weather the economic slowdown.
Cisco's stock rose as high as $20.80, and closed up $1.53, or 8 percent, at $20.76 in trading on the Nasdaq. The American Stock Exchange Networking Index closed up 6 percent.
Since the beginning of last year, the stock has outperformed its peers in the American Stock Exchange Networking Index by about 14 percent, but its price has fallen about 47 percent.
Morgan Stanley analyst Christopher Stix said in a research note that that he believes Cisco, the largest maker of gear that powers the Internet, is gaining significant market share.
Stix expects network equipment spending to recover this year, but subsequent to a recovery in corporate profits, he said. Annual growth will not return to the 30 percent rates of the past but will be more prudent.
Spending by enterprise, or large corporate customers, is likely to be stronger than spending by telephone carriers, Stix said. He added that industry consolidation should continue, favoring market share leaders such as Cisco and Riverstone Networks.
Credit Suisse First Boston analyst Lissa Bogaty said in a research note she believes fourth-quarter capital spending by the telecommunications industry and other large corporate customers was cautious.
She added there is widespread belief that spending for network equipment this year will be up compared with last year, and most of the networking companies will report quarterly results in line with expectations. However, there remains little visibility or predictability for January.
"Cisco may be the exception to this trend," Bogaty said. "The company appears to be seeing sequential revenue increases every month."
She said the networking stocks are looking neither cheap nor expensive after a recent run-up and pullback. The stocks she favors include Cisco and Riverstone, while Juniper Networks would be attractive at lower prices.
