WIND: THE PORTAL GOES MOBILE

At a multimedia news bulletin, updates on finance and road conditions, and much more can be directly accessed by mobile phone.

Wind is the first telecommunications company in Italy launching WIND EUREKA!, ( a mobile portal for palmtops. An array of channels and multimedia services enables constant, easy access to what's happening in the world from a mobile phone.

Via a GPRS connection, using the Emblaze streaming platform, WIND EUREKA! opens up windows on the world through a vast assortment of multimedia services, with editorial format and interface specifically designed for this technology; for the video transmission the system is based on an Emblaze platform.

L'Edicola is undoubtedly the most innovative service: with 6 bulletins every weekday, which can be accessed via the portal from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., it provides a truly "portable" newscast. Running for an average of 100 seconds, each news brief gives a roundup of major events including images and commentary by reporters from RAINEWS 24 and Il Nuovo, thus creating an original product tailor-made for Wind.
Meteo Traffico is the channel for those who are always on the move: a bulletin every three hours, seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., gives the customer weather forecasts for all areas of Italy. Hourly video clips also provide traffic updates for major roads and highways.
Economia e finanza has four financial news bulletins, three presented by the editorial staff of Soldi On Line and one by the RAI News 24 team, broadcast Monday through Friday and covering the opening and closure of the Milan Stock Exchange and the opening of Wall Street.
The In Cittą channel provides useful addresses of hotels and restaurants - with the collaboration of the Italian Touring Club Guide.
Movie buffs can also find all the information they need on Wind's mobile portal. In the Cinemania section all the movies showing at theaters in major Italian cities will be posted, including plot details and above all the chance to watch trailers of current movies.


Tuttomusica caters to that other great Italian passion - music - with constantly updated listings of best-selling singles and albums, news from across the musical spectrum, and a search engine to track down concerts throughout Italy.
To complete the range of Wind's mobile portal channels, the Astri section gives instant access to horoscopes, and Cerca calculates personalized route maps to chosen destinations and provides Italian telephone directories of companies and private individuals.


To facilitate access to its mobile portal, Wind provides customers with a kit including a GPRS Motorola T280 Tri Band mobile phone, a Compaq iPAQ H3630 palmtop with color monitor and optical sensor, a connection cable to link the two terminals, a pre-paid SIM Card worth 25.82 euros (Lit.50,000), and a WIND EUREKA! service card, free for one week.
