The Faraj List of Exploding Stocks-Part 6.07
melfaraj - Sun, 31 Dec 06 :
Welcome to the 6th leg of this un-ending journey of stock exploration. The Faraj List of Exploding Stocks. This Journey had commenced in the bleak and frightening market year of 2002. March 2003 saw the FTSE bottoming up at 3300. The rebound from then has been relentless. By the end of year, 2004, the FTSE had hit 4814. By the end of Yr2005 the FTSE stood at 5619 and by the end of Yr2006 the FTSE had hit 6221.8 a rising 10.7% on the year 2006 and crossing the magical 6000 level.
Profits of doom and gloom once again, as for last year, had predicted a collapse of this market to take the FTSE to 4000's level. Once more the doomers had been using citing criteria to support their prediction that are many decades old. The mindsets of these doomers continue to be frozen in time, at around the 1920's or thereabout!!
As with Yr2005, the performance of the sectors have broadly followed that of the market as a whole. Accordingly, individual stock picking proved the deciding factor.
I expect Yr 2007 to continue the rising market trend of last year. As for the sectors, my favourite sector that I shall nominate as the sector for Yr2007 must be the Health Sector which at last is showing signs of recovery after such a long period of heading down! In a mere few years we shall have more people over 50 years of age than under 50 years of age. SUN and OSH stocks have been star performers!!
