The Faraj List of Exploding Stock Part 2.03
artful dodger - Sun, 28 Dec 03 :
hey mel and fingers(can u chart ffy for me?-i'm no techie at all)
re ffy
I'm a lover of the irony of life, so holding an irish banana-selling company is right up my street.
it's my second largest holding right now, as i add to my winners over time, and I've held since 45p. Trouble is that my holdings can get a little 'toppy' this way, and I end up with 'risky' amounts in some companies( especially prm-which i am seriously overinvested in now, having added also from 40p) .
I also re-invest the dividends, which is a great portfolio management tool, imo, and sure stacks up over time with the likes of FFY, HRN, WNDR etc. I add on every price breakout, and sell on a downside breakout (much harder, selling stocks...)
re these lists, it is one thing to spot and buy winners (relatively easy, in my experience) the really hard part is portfolio management , which is how much you buy, when you buy, and when you sell especially.
it would be useful to hear the views of the hoary old posters on this thread as to 'their' system of poerfolio management, which would help new posters, although I would add the caveat that everyone will have to 'feel' their own way here -every successful trader/investor has to find their own system in a sense. But there are useful rules-of-thumb that have helped me over the years.
I can unpack my own system in more detail if wanted, but I don't want to bore people with unwanted guff. I would be more interested to hear others' views, with how long they have been trading/investing that way.
useful materiel, imo
