THE CHARTIST'S SHORT!
poorold - Fri, 31 Dec 04 :
I had the opportunity today to visit BioTec Films in Tampa.
It actually exists! And is staffed with quite a number of very enthusiastic and competent group of folks..and for all you out there who think it's a headless animal, think again, and think quite hard. You are quite incorrect.
Of course, I would be enthusiastic if I was working on the things they are working on...can anyone spell p.r.o.d.u.c.t.i.o.n., IN CAPITAL LETTERS...not just R&D...
Suffice to say that it appears quite timely that expanded film production capacity will be coming on line in six months.
very exciting stuff.

After a good night's sleep, my summary thoughts after visiting BioTec Films yesterday are as follows:
1. I am quite relaxed regarding GH's comments in the Trading Statement RNS regarding new customers impacting 2005 revenues.
2. I kind'a wish BPRG already had more film lines up and running already. BPRG has the expertise and money to capitalize on market opportunities.
3. The group of folks at BioTec Films are really a capable, professional group who undoubtedly will impress anyone doing due diligence on BPRG with regard to BPRG's ability to produce film commercially.
4. Despite the revenue shortfall in 2004 at BioTec Films, having proven film production expertise in house (and scalable globally) is worth its weight in gold right now, in the medium term and in the longer term.
I also remember (pre-AIM) the difficulties BPRG had in obtaining sufficient film to even do their inhouse R&D for XGel. The difficulties stemmed not only from BPRG's horribly limited financial resources, but also from the "not even a handful" of companies able to produce edible films like XGel.
BPRG now has their own film production capabilities and the financial resources to scale up globally. On that basis alone, Aquafilm will prove to have been a critical acquisition for BPRG.
In fact, I might go so far in my thinking to conclude that without the Aquafilm purchase last year, BPRG might still be in due diligence limbo with the likes of Wyeth...instead of at the licensing negotiation stage.
The know-how from the Aquafilm acquisition is also invaluable from the perspective of "knowing" how to build a commercial film production facility that works. Aquafilm folks have spent the past several years refining production techniques and getting things "right."
I suspect that GH was only able to figure out the LOCUM strategy as a result of the Aquafilm purchase. Once again, that strategy will end up saving BPRG millions upon millions in the short and medium term compared to building their own plant(s) and "figuring out" how to get them to run--let alone being able to convince a global pharmaceutical that BPRG can produce film.
It is perfectly clear that BPRG can produce film commercially.
And BPRG has the resources to scale up to meet any level of demand.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
