The Case for Gold and AFG
Hectorp - Tue, 28 Dec 04 :
One to two years IMO.
and
when technology companies were also flavour of the month, they rocketed 10 fold based on speculation. At least mining explorers, while speculative as you say, have a better chance of showing a potential profit, in clear returns of cash based on a resource. Its an easier path to growth returns than most tech or bio companies can offer. Of course half the little miners won't come to much. That is indeed the speculation aspect.
The best time to buy mining explorer shares is the stage we are at here or maybe some months ago, but not late yet... - strong chances of a good resource being credited to the company, and either a J/V or buyout by a major miner, or mining themselves or with a smaller? partner ( ie not Billiton etc) - this last one seems very probable at AFG.
At the present price I'd be very comfortable holding AFD with two probable largish resoures. I think we realise one at least of them shall be on the biggish side of 1 or even 2 mill oz gold. I'll be delighted to 'gamble' a few ŁK if it means in a year I'll have doubled or better.
