BOMBAY (AFX-ASIA) - Hutchison Max said it will invest more than 65 mln usd
in Bombay next year to upgrade its infrastructure.
The company, which provides cellular service under the brand name Orange and
is a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa of Hong Kong, said it will expand its
network infrastructure and improve coverage areas.
"The proposed investment will take the total investment made by Hutchison in
Bombay to over 11.50 billion rupees," a company statement said Tuesday.
It said the company crossed the one-million customer mark under the Orange
brand in Bombay, while its overall subscriber base is more than 4 mln in ten
licensed regions in the country.
Besides Bombay, Hutchison operates cellular services in other centres
including New Delhi, Calcutta and Madras.
