Albertson's board still backs CEO: report (ABS) By Steve Goldstein
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The board of Albertson's (ABS) still backs CEO Larry Johnston after the collapse of takeover talks last week, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing a letter the newspaper received from independent directors. The lead director, Paul Corddry, called Johnston an "extraordinary leader in whom our board has the utmost confidence," the report said. Albertson's has lost about a third of its value since Johnston left General Electric to run the country's second-largest supermarket chain in 2001, the report said.
