Tepnel buys Orchid Biosciences

Manchester, UK. 4th December 2003. Tepnel Life Sciences PLC (AIM: TED)
announces that subsequent to the Company's announcement on the 31 October 2003
of its acquisition of the Orchid Diagnostics division from Orchid BioSciences
Inc., and associated placing, the Company was approached, through its broker
Seymour Pierce, by an institution that wished to invest in the Company. In
order to satisfy that demand, the Company today announces that they have placed
with that institution, and certain other private individuals including Alec
Craig, Non-Executive Chairman of the Company, an additional 1,978,261 ordinary
shares of 1p each in the capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at 11.5p per
share. The gross proceeds of this placing, which will be used for working
capital purposes, are #227,500.
