People seem overly concerned with the directors options imo. I believe that if directors wealth is directly concerned to the performance of the sp and hence the company's fortunes, that can only be beneficial to other shareholders.

Sure, it seems unfair that they can effectively reward themselves for a previous poor tenure, but unless directors and management are suitably incentivised, their motivation levels are seldom of the best, and lets face it, if the sp doubles and trebles in the next couple of years, will any shareholder complain ?
