CES 2007 Preview: Audio
12.20.06
CES 2007 promises to unveil a bevy of products for everyone from the casual listener to the audiophile, be your weapon of choice an iPod, a Zune, a turntable, or anything in between.
Another trend we expect to see at CES is an increase (in both quantity of manufacturers and overall quality) in two types of headphones: Bluetooth and noise-canceling. In the latter category, Bose has been the clear frontrunner for years (that is, for active noise cancellation headphones, noise isolation is a different story). Now seems the Quiet Comforts are about to get some new competitors on the block, and in similar price-ranges, setting us up for an early 2007 battle of the noise-cancellation headsets. In the Bluetooth headphones department, we're hoping to see vast improvements on the sound quality in the stereo music realm—a heretofore underdeveloped category.
