I wrote about this last week mate. TD Waterhouse are taking the p*ss. I have one certificate due from them in the next week or so, and then its goodbye. Like you I like to pay by cheque or switch, but have no nominee account as I feel it benefits them more then it does their client. I can't see why everyone has to pay large commissions only for some of it to be refunded at the end of the year!! Living off the interest TD?? When TD Waterhouse took over dealwise , they tried to get me to open a nominee account at every turn. Everytime I refused they used strong arm tactics, like losing certificates, delaying payment, hiding certificates in the office. Once a payment was delayed by a month!! so as a test I delayed it with them and I had a letter within 24 hours explaining what action they will take!

The choices are very limited, but I have decided to go with COMDIRECT, who are now Europes largest brokers. Though it means opening a nominee account, and not been able to T trade, the commission at £12.50 on ANY deal is sound to me. A couple of years ago, I never trusted online dealing, but I believe the systems are more securer now.

The little man has been squeezed so much he has only two choices--- accept it, or leave! TDW THEY WANT YOU TO OPEN A NOMINEE ACCOUNT,and they give a story of its expensive them to keep the certificate system alive. STRONG ARM TACTICS.
