A POLL ON THE DIGITALSPY website puts Microsoft's X Box gaming console in third spot behind the Playstation 2 and the common or garden PC.
Readers voted the PS2 Best Gaming Platform, with 44 per cent of the votes cast. The humble PC drew 26 per cent, followed by the X Box with 14 per cent and Nintendo's Gamecube with 10 per cent.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the PS2 was voted best game in the poll, closely followed by the earlier Grand Theft Auto 3.
The site which keeps tabs on developments in digital TV in the UK did not reveal how many readers participated in its end of year poll. Clear winner of the most categories was the BBC, however. BBC Four was chosen as the best new channel of the year with a quarter of all votes and the broadacaster's BBCi was voted Best Cable interactive application. BBC Choice was voted Best Freeview Channel and BBC One voted Best Terrestrial Channel.
Ntl:home was voted best broadband service provider, followed by Telewest's Blueyonder. BT's Openworld polled 14 per cent and Freeserve 10 per cent, whilst Pipex and AOL managed seven per cent each .
