I thought that it used to be mentioned that Torotrak would receive a royalty rate of around £24 - £30 per transmission.
Presumably that was when the estimated cost of a TRK-IVT transmission for automotive was around £800 - £1000
Now that Torotrak say that they have reduced the size and the number of components of their IVT transmission...presumably the cost of the latest TRK-IVT transmission for automotive is considerably less.
Still..even if the cost of the latest TRK-IVT transmission for automotive..were to be in the region of £600 - £700..Then a 3% royalty rate would still give us around £18 - £21 per transmission.
Just-Maybe...this is still possible at some time in the future..if TRK can eventually get the IVT transmission into several ranges of premium cars.
Until then presumably we will see various other arrangements for royalty rates in the OPE market,Off-Highway and the "possible" small asian car with IVT.
