Usually - and it depends on the exact wording of one's option agreement - the employee has 30 days to exercise or lose the options upon leaving the company.
Of course this can be very difficult to decide in some circumstances and will also not be reported so we won't know now if RJ keeps or sells or doesn't exercise her options.
I know many had a lot of time for her and she must have been suffering from something fairly serious to keep her off work for this long. To then lead to her resignation cannot be good news for her so I wish her well and hope she makes a speedy recovery.
