To be fair, the 2Q over 1Q downloads increased numerically by over 10% which isn't bad. The dollar gave a 6% hit so the download revenue only increased by about 6%.
That link from pylon a while back on the differences between Brew and Java is well worth a read. I've added it to the header.
Looks like Java is a lot more bother at the moment to implement across lots of phones, and doesn't perform as fast, but Brew is beginning to roll out over Europe. Whilst the Italians at the moment are working with Gameloft and EA, our games will work on their network so maybe soon after they have settled down they will use some of our games.
SPS does need a bit more visibility. Pocketgamer's top 50 games didn't include any SPS ones, although they probably were focussing on the UK. SPS is also not an 'elite' member of Qualcomm, I wonder why.
They mentioned in the interims on April that they planned 50% of their revenues for this financial year from 3D. At the interims they only had 32% so they would have to go some to reach that figure. They neither confirmed nor withdrew the forecast then.
Gameloft's results on 29 January should be of interest, and maybe we will get a pre close update end of January. As more and more of our revenue is Brew, they should have a reasonable idea of where they are then.
Failing that then the results late March/early April should reveal whether we are going places.
