I was off by 4.30am and on the slopes by noon, in any case I found Courchevel 1850 a bit over-rated - a Piccadilly Circus of people and with shopping centres/escalators to rival the Trocadero. But if there had been more snow on that side of the mountain the runs and off piste would have been great. Lots of stones and exposed rock unfortunately :(
Talk of lots of hot Russian women in 1850 is wide of the mark, probably related to the Ruskies trying to buy up the already daftly expensive property. Plenty of French girls puffing on their Citanes though; and over in Meribel (where the snow is much better) the English Sophies and Emmas are all babbling away "Cool!" and "Wicked!" on their mobiles, on the way up the lifts. Plus lots of text messaging. But no sign of anyone using mobiles for anything else but communication.
