Nomura International has been appointed to provide Gaming Insight with financial advice and brokering services in place of current provider Old Mutual Securities.
Damion Greef, head of corporate communications at Gaming Insight, said that the appointment had been made in preparation for consolidation within the online gambling market next year.
"There is going to be a lot of consolidation in the sector and Nomura will provide heavyweight backing for any corporate activity we undertake,” he explained. “It is unclear which way the sector will go in terms of who will be involved in acquisitions and mergers, but we will be in a strong position."
Gaming Insight has also been awarded Barclaycard Merchant Status, which means that punters placing bets can now use all major credit cards and use multiple currencies. Until now, the company had used an offshore transaction company that required all bets to be converted into US dollars only.
"It was considerably more expensive in terms of transaction charges to use an offshore company and we are now saving a considerable amount," said Greef. "We have managed to get Merchant Status while other operators have struggled because we don't accept bets from the US and won't be involved in potential legal difficulties."
