Just say your friend wants to sell stock and you want
to buy it then you can fill some forms out and it will
get done in a short space of time, done this a few years
back, obviously for larger amounts and with strangers you
have to rely on your broker to try and find persons who
are willing to sell the stock should you wish to purchase
large amounts at good prices, not always easy to do.
Most cross trades are actually just one person switching stock
into a different account for tax reasons, when they are actually
a buyer buying stock off a stale seller it's very good news
for the share price.
