Lets hope sterling can follow in the footsteps of DNO in kurdistan at some point in the future/
Norwegian explorer DNO has pumped 8500 barrels of oil per day from the Tawke-4 well, in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, during tests.
"We are very pleased with Tawke-4 which has turned out as the best oil producer in the field to date," DNO boss Helge Eide said in a statement released today.
"DNO is pleased to announce that Tawke-4 produced 8500 barrels of oil per day during testing," it said.
DNO is the first western company drilling for oil in post-war Iraq under a 2004 deal with the Kurdistan regional authorities.
It said drilling of the well began on 14 December and that oil samples confirmed similar quality of crude as produced in tests of Tawke wells 1, 1A and 2. The drilling rig would be moved about 1.1 kilometres east to drill a new well.
