Rayrac: To say anyone needs nuclear power from the point of electricity generation is ridiculous as the generating history of nuclear power is appalling, and to suggest Iran needs it, is laughable.
Very few nuclear power stations could ever be said to economically generate electricity without hiding decomissioning costs, ask British Energy.
The good in that though, is that it makes sterling's exploration, along with that of other explorers and producers all the more poignant.
But its silly indeed to talk about the billions required for oil, which is as you know pumping quite readily in Iran already and where an oil fired power station would make much more sense if electricity was the real aim.
Oil and gas has a future that will inevitably mean prices rise as oil/gas peak production is passed (if not already so).
Incidentally, whereas oil has supposedly a considered lifespan of some 30 years, uranium has only 10 years, which is why the cost of uranium has increased dramatically.
Iran has what many many years of potential oil use, and where indeed if they open the markets to spend the billions suggested to be needed, it will no doubt give sterling an even more important role.
