The faster rates need CAT5, like 100MB/s available in Scandinavia, there is no way your going to get 100MB/s over the current telephone line, 8MB/s is pushing it, as you cannot have ANY right angle turns(think skirting board here) or you get feedback, and therefore data errors and packet re-sends, which then slows it down again.
Isle of Man has the fastest wireless at 60MB/s, and it's not cheap, about £2500 P.A for a 1MB asynchronous line, so you can guess how much that 60MB/s would cost !!!! ....
USA are doing 30MB/s over FTTP for $199 a month ....
