Food producer Grampian Country Food Group, based in Aberdeen, is the top company in Scotland on the latest Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100. The annual league table ranks the UK’s one hundred private companies with the fastest-growing profits.
Grampian Country Food Group processes meat for customers that include the UK's top five supermarkets. Since it was founded in 1980, Grampian has made 18 acquisitions, including St Merryn Meat, which it purchased last autumn. This confirmed its position as one of Britain's largest meat processors, with close to £1.5bn in sales. Profits have grown at 61% a year from £9.3m in 2000 to £38.6m in 2003.
