Company background
Grampian Country Food Group is the largest chicken processor and supplier in the UK. It is also the UK's leading independent agri-food business and a major producer of pork, beef and lamb for the retail and food service sectors. Established in 1980, Grampian has expanded to 39 sites throughout the UK, with a turnover of £1.3bn. Since its latest acquisition of the pork business Malton Foods, the company now has 15,500 employees and more than 1,800 PCs.
Grampian is a complex operation. It supplies the major retail sector including Asda, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury's, Safeway, Tesco and Waitrose. In addition the business supplies the foodservice and wholesale markets. Each year, the company processes 198 million chickens, 3. 6million pigs, 73,000 cattle, 1.2 million lambs and in excess of one million tonnes of compound animal feed.
The company takes pride in its willingness to work in partnership with suppliers and customers and offers both quality and value for money. Grampian has grown by acquisition and comprises several divisions, each run autonomously with its own information systems. These divisions include Feed Milling, Agriculture, Chicken, Pork, Red Meat and Transport and Distribution.
