.....i believe SEO could get a higher price for base product knowing that point 2 is essential and 3 in itself will enhance margins considerably more at the end of the chain than at the start of the chain.

....a pack of meat retailing at £4 with 5 days shelf life - say after day 3 historically a customer will not buy that product because it has gone off colour slightly etc etc- whereas now it will be after day 4 and so puts replenishment of the product back a day and will maybe reduce wastage by about 50% (guess) - its not the wastage of the packaging that is the highest cost it is usually the product itself.
