Crude, natural gas open lower on the Nymex
NEW YORK (AFX) -- Ahead of the weekly U.S. supply data and after a standout
session, crude and natural gas opened lower Wednesday on the New York Mercantile
Exchange. Natural gas, which set a record Tuesday, fell 3.1%, or 47.8 cents, to
$14.90 per million British thermal units. Crude, which reached a 5-week high on
Tuesday, shed 12 cents to $61.25 a barrel. The Energy Department's data on
Wednesday is expected to show a decline in supplies of distillates, which
include heating oil. On Thursday, the Energy Department is expected to report a
sizable draw in natural gas inventories.
