‘FIFA 07’ ends the year at the top of the All Formats Top 40, relegating team-mate ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ down from No1 to No3 and recording 8 weeks at No1 on the All Formats Chart over 2006, more than any other title over a calendar year since ‘Medal of Honour: Frontline’ in 2002 (with 10).



Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ moves up one place from No3 to No2, giving football games a chart topping end to 2006 and preventing EA from celebrating a clean sweep of the Top 3. EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ jumps from No5 to No4, while Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 3’ is shot down from No4 to No5. Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima suffers from brain drain after his exertions over the Christmas period with ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ slipping from No8 to No9.

The post-Christmas sales have an immediate impact on the charts: most notable is Take 2’s PS2 ‘Canis Canem Edit’, back in the All Formats Top 10 at No8 from No20. Other promotions include EA’s ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ up from No22 to No12 and ‘Tomb Raider: Legend’ from Eidos, leaping a massive 26 places from No39 to No13. However, the party is over for ‘Happy Feet’ from Midway and Eidos’s ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Party Edition’ down from No7 to No21 and No14 to No23 respectively. Sales of Wii games start to dry up with ‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ selling out, down to No2 on the Wii Chart and replaced at the top by Ubisoft’s ‘Red Steel’ and no exclusive Wii games making the All Formats Top 40 this week.
