Kingfisher Says Peter Jackson to Replace Mackay as Chairman
Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Kingfisher Plc, Europe's largest home- improvement retailer, has named Peter Jackson to take over as chairman when Francis Mackay retires next May.
Mackay, 61, will stand down at the end of the company's annual general meeting on May 24, 2006, Kingfisher said in a statement on the Web site of France's Financial Markets Authority, known as AMF.
Jackson, 58, will join Kingfisher's board as a non-executive director on Jan. 3 ``and will take on the role of chairman on the retirement'' of Mackay, the statement says.
``I would like to pay tribute to Francis who has been an outstanding chairman, steering the company through a period of major change,'' Kingfisher's Chief Executive Gerry Murphy said in the statement.
Mackay said Kingfisher ``is extremely well placed as one of the global leaders in its market and I wish Peter and all my Kingfisher colleagues continuing success.''
