LONDON, December 29 (newratings.com) – Sanofi-Aventis SA (SNW.ETR) and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co have won a Canadian federal court ruling, which dismissed the appeal by drugmaker Apotex Inc seeking permission to market a generic version of Plavix, a blood thinner.
The Federal Court of Canada has dismissed Apotex’s appeal and has prohibited the Minister of Health from issuing a Notice of Compliance to Apotex regarding its 75mg clopidogrel bisulfate tablets. Apotex cannot market its 75mg clopidogrel bisulfate tablets in Canada without the Notice of Compliance. This ruling is the second Plavix-related win for Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol Myers this month.
