On the subject of what are the various assets may be worth:
When I spoke to Wayne Nutbeen back in October, he stated that in the UK (unlike the USA) the value of the brands were not accounted for on the balance sheet, typically up market brands are valued at 2 X sales. Waterford Wedgewood offerred £25M for Royal Albert back in March 2001 (with strings attached), the Royal Doulton directors considered that it was worth £40M (with no strings attached)
On the subject of land; RDN have retained a big chunk of land from the Baddley green site, 8.5 hectares of this is green field (the rest is green belt) and the green field portion may be eligible for planning permission for residential housing following the pathfinder review which is due to report in March 2004. Wayne Nutbeen speculated that the value of the green field portion of the land with outline planning permision could be worth £10M.
