off topic....
I`m on a `need to know` quest. This story came from `The Scotsman` today...Am I correct in saying that the Shell Corrib field is in block 12,the Ramco/Donegal basin is in block 13 and now Shell wants to drill the other side of the `sandwich` albeit slightly further north...if this is the case then this must be one hell of a field.
Shell UK has been given a licence to sink an exploration well 58 miles north-east of Lewis, in a water depth of more than 3,000ft and 53 miles from the UK-Faroe median line....with Shell to the left,ROS and co in the middle and Shell again a bit further right/north...all sucking out of the same reseviour?
the story...
`The company has been granted a licence by the Government for exploration in the Benbecula North field, following submission of an environment statement in September.
The well, on which work has not yet started, will be in quadrant 154/1, where Shell became operator with its acquisition of Enterprise Oil in 2002.
An oil-industry source claimed at the weekend that Shell was aware of oil, having carried out considerable analysis and simulation of the sea bed. "They are very excited about it," the source said.`
