When I suggested that market makers put the price up to attract buyers back then I was slated by wannabee who suggested I knew nothing about the stock market.
Nice to see someone agree with my thinking at the time.
It was obvious at the time that they had to shift gem shares so marked it up. The result is that punters think it's on another bull run and buy into a rising share.
Problem is, it stayed there then dropped so they could not sell again at a profit.
It is also true that when the price is stagnant but sentiment is good, they drop the price also to attract buyers. Punters think they have a bargain and buy again.
Wannabee stated the price should drop to attract on the last occasion.
Who would buy with a drop in price and millions of new shares released onto the market.
The MM's have been very clever raising the price and keeping a 3/4p spread. The deals I highlighted were 1/4p above or below the best bid/offer which were in my opinion the Gem shares being sold. Every now and again they would raise the bid 1/4p then drop it down.
It has never been more true that the MM's are there to 'make a market'. They have done a terrific job with Rage.
If the market is thin up to New years eve then it is going to be very interesting to see what happens to the pricenew genm shares hit market on 31/1/01) ...watch for a markup then a fall to about 6p within a week or so in my opinion.
