Two interesting comments on the fast-track 30-day FDA Approval process, today - first, approval is tacit so if you don't get a letter from the FDA then you can go ahead and second, most refusal letters are sent out within the first 15 days.

On page 26-27 they ask - 'Will Biotech come of age?' - and reprise the ReNeuron story that we all know. They do mention that apart from Ark Therapeutics, most Biotechs are tiddlers with limited cash resources with which to carry out their development programmes. The article adds:
"ReNeuron's CEO, Michael Hunt, admits he has had to put other projects on the back-burner in order to conserve funds. His company rejoined the market after almost going bust in 2003. Further M & A activity in the stem-cell arena is therefore likely, given that even the US-based companies are small. However, while the shares in these pioneering companies could have plenty of upside, the risk of investors losing their shirts is very real".
