Observations
1. Agency based listings are not growing as strongly as non Agency Listings.
2. Agency based listings only grew by 2% whereas Non Agency grew 46%.
3. Both Agency and Non Agency Listing numbers peaked in early December ( Xmas factor ).
4. Apart from UK and Germany, the introduction of agency fees appears to have had little negative impact in the growth of listings ( for details see subsequent posts.). Note the massive drop in listing in both the UK and Germany when agency based fees were introduced in Q4. UK Listings fell from 112,812 in Q4 to 22,936 in Q1. For Germany the fall was even greater i.e. 174,366 in Q4, falling to an average 65,786 in Q1, 51,648 in Q2 and now to 41,513 in Q3.
5. QXL’s listings growth is strongest in Poland and France ( NB! Both countries have doubled their listings from Q4 period to current Q3 period ). Apart from Germany, the remaining countries QXL trade in , the listing growth has been slow but steady!!!
6. With reference to Q2 to Q3 QXL revenue growth, it must be noted that the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark were not agency based throughout Q2, whereas in Q3 they were. In Q2 the total number of agency based listings was 217,739. This now compares with 302,434 in Q3, an increase of 84,695 listings = 39% increase.
Question
1. With overall agency based listings up 2% from growth between Q2 to Q3 and up 39% with the conversion of the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway to agency based fees in Q3, will we see a corresponding 41% increase in QXL’s Q2 revenue turnover? Note in Q2 the agency based revenue turnover was £1,142,898. If we increase this figure by 41% we get £1,622,915.
2. Add in an increase in QXL’s auction success rates, up from 6.85% in Q1 to 20% + in Q3 and a possible increase in the average auction value, then will we see QXL’s Q3 agency revenue turnover surpass the £2m mark or not?
With all the data nearly gathered for Q3, I will publish my final Q3 revenue prediction for QXL on New Years day. Rather than using average listing fees and average auction success rates my total revenue prediction will be derived by calculating the agency revenue for each country QXL trade in.
