Saw an article in Life, the Observer Magazine on 31/12/00,entitled Tomorrow People. This was written by Dr Craig Venter, Celera Genomics, Maryland. Specialism: the human genomics. Amongst other things he wrote that Celera are now working on the detection of proteins in the blood, which will give the earliest indication of the onset of colon and breast cancer-when the deseases are still treatable, perhaps even without chemotherapy. This is going to have a huge impact, even with those two diseases. He went on to say that with the intelligent use of genetic and protein information healthcare costs will go down exponentially.
Celera are in the field and I wonder how they stack up against Proteome. Any information?
