2BOB post 24435 comes right in along the lines of what I was told by the Canadian sources.
It would not surprise me one jot if GeneThera and a couple of other labs are not very close indeed to a test or indeed already have one.
There is a widespread view in the UK that only the UK are so advanced in this field. I was married for several years to a wildlife ecologist (Msc from Acadia University) who spent much of her career at Kedjimukujik National Park.
Agreeably its hardly my field but its foolish for UK investors to underestimate the work thats gone on here or the sophistication of it.
If you live in N America or if you are familiar with the Geography you can easily understand the huge importance of diseases from wild animals (Elk , Deer, Moose etc) spreading into domestic herds.
For instance the Moose population was severely threatened by a disease in Deer that made its way into the Moose herds due to Moose grazing further south than normal or deer heading North due to either very mild or harsh winters.
The USA and Canada are joined at the hip when it comes to this type of research.
Both countries are talking about the feesability of testing every single animal before its slaughtered.
My understanding is that there is a test already but that there was a wobbly in there which had prevented mass adoption/commercialisation.
The further impression I received was that this was not an insurmountable problem and that it would get sorted out.....( I recd this information in the summer of 2003)
When you further appreciate the size of the Beef Industry in North America and the co operative ability that exists betweenthe two countries, it then becomes virtually inconceivable that they would not be close to a test that would protect the industry. I would bet that we are 4 to 6 mths away from a commercial test....
Personally I would be very tempted back into PRM if this whole BSE test was put to rest and we knew what effect it would have on the share price. We could then concentrate on the "bigger picture"...
I read the post by bluemango 24434.
Its got to rank up there with daftest and most insulting posts of 2003.
A "get a life sticker" will be dispatched to you shortly.
We are all in this game together and the idea is to conduct spirited debate that allows us to see the whole argument.
Just because someone posts something derogotary about an aspect of a particular holding does NOT mean they are necessarily against the company as a whole.
I would welcome some more transparency on this thread because some of the really interesting news on PRM is getting ignored.
