FSE,
errrr .........it depends on how you define "imminent". It is clear that the BSE test for Idexx requires EC regulatory approval and that this is not going to happen until sometime in 2004 at the earliest (and we are not talking January); as you will see on the Idexx website. So I do not think I missed your point.
Also, the fact that regulatory approval is sought, suggests that the test is in advanced stage...indeed from Idexx's point of view, able to gain regulatory approval...otherwise why waste time and resources going through the process?
I think you need to think through your assertions- beyond your first impressions.
My guess is that we will now see Idexx accelerate seeking US approval...but it is just a guess- they may just wait for EC approval first so that a US application has more credibility- but then everything has changed since Dec 24th- so who knows?.
I am just waiting for news of the first vCJD victim in the USA (not that I relish that- except as a lesson for the US WRT its arrogance)- since the Washington State cow was 12 years old and went into burgers. I strongly suspect that BSE has entered the human food chain in the US before now and that a US acquired vCJD case will emerge in a matter of time.
