I wonder if the discussion between SA and CJP went something like this...
Mr Aventis: "Look Chris, I'm sure we can work out this little glitch"
Mr Pierce: "No Sanofi, you think you can ride roughshod over the small guys and now I've got your balls in my bottom drawer."
Mr Aventis: "Well Chris, if you won't play ball my company will just have to sell all its PRM shares."
Mr Pierce: "Don't be silly Sanofi, that would send the price through the floor. You wouldn't want that because then we'd have to make a couple of major announcements earlier than planned in order to prop it up."
Mr Aventis: "Don't push me Chris! You know, if you would just drop the warranty case this would all go away, but you're too damn stubborn."
Mr Pierce: "I won't settle for a penny less than £20m, Sanofi."
Mr Aventis: "Have it your own way then Chris, we'll have to start selling. I'll try and persuade the board to drip-feed them onto the market but no promises though. You'll be getting a letter from me soon." Byeee!
