ReNeuron Announces Collaboration with Proteome Sciences to Identify Brain Repair
Proteins.
ReNeuron Holdings plc (LSE: REN.L) ('ReNeuron') announces that it has entered
into a collaborative research agreement with Proteome Sciences plc (LSE: PRM.L)
('Proteome Sciences') to identify proteins expressed in brain repair following
transplantation of neural stem cells.
The collaboration will bring together ReNeuron's stem cell transplantation
technology and Proteome Science's expertise in the field of proteomics. The
companies will jointly own intellectual property arising from the collaboration,
and share any resulting revenues from its commercialisation.
ReNeuron has previously demonstrated that, following the induction of a stroke
in pre-clinical in-vivo models, neural stem cell transplantation can induce
functional recovery. This may be due to factors produced by the implanted cells
or a response in the damaged brain tissue. Identification of proteins produced
in response to the stroke may produce possible novel therapeutic entities or
druggable targets relevant to the treatment of stroke and other
neurodegenerative diseases.
