It is not the intention of this post to stop you feeling “disgruntled”,there cannot be one long term holder who would not agree with your sentiments.

But you say:-

I do not think this is that difficult to answer.

The largest single driver involved here is the pressure on management themselves to get a deal out. Their jobs for the first time ever are on the line and have been for the past few months. Something has to give and CJP in particular, wealthy though he undoubtedly is, will not want to lose his position in the company at a time when proteomics is beginning to lead the way in drug discovery programmes and PRM’s involvement in this process is so very close to achieving commercial success. Forget the money, in his shoes your ego would simply not allow such a thing to happen.
CJP works tirelessly at his job, arrives early in the morning and is normally the last to leave, a lot of my conversations are after 6 o’clock at night when he is taking a break from conference calls. With his wealth I would have packed it all in a long time ago so ask yourself why does he carry on putting in the hours, making the plane journeys, putting up with the wrath of shareholders. There is only one conclusion that fits for me and that’s his total dedication to not let 10 years plus of hard slog go to waste when almost everything he has preached is about to take place.
I have formulated my own assessment of what has happened recently and it's not based entirely on guesswork (although you may wish to challenge such an assertion). It backs up the notion of a significantly better deal and now involves more than one reagent, all of this with a very big pharma. I think the deal will involve quite a lot of cash because more of the jewels have been included.
All one has to do for now is sit tight and watch what happens; the longs that have weathered the disappointment so far will certainly be giving the company the benefit of the doubt for the time being.
