Iraq seeks cooperation with UAE oil companies
ABU DHABI - Iraq is very keen on greater cooperation with the UAE in the oil and gas sector and talks are underway with some UAE oil companies for exchange of technological expertise and training of Iraqi nationals in specialised areas in this sector.
Zuhair Al Pachachi, executive council advisor, Iraqi Business Council, Abu Dhabi, told Wam on the sidelines of a mini-conference on Iraqi oil industry at the ongoing Adipec 2004, that following the visit of interim Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi a month back to the UAE, negotiations are on to forge closer cooperation with various economic sectors between the two countries.
“There is a keen interest in Iraq to have Iraqi nationals receive training in the UAE to bring them up to date with regard to various new developments in the oil and gas sector. negotiations are on with certain oil companies who will take on board Iraqis for training,” he said.
