Bahouse - thanks for the links although I don't subscribe to the 'big plan' theory in the way portrayed. In fact the one thing the US didn't seem to have is a post-Saddam strategy. However, there must be a sunni/shia tension if only because the latter were repressed for decades under Saddam. I agree that its in the US' interest to have disunity amongst Muslims (divide and rule) but it also exists in reality as it does with any religion.

There's so much on the internet and in some senses it is liberating in others a propaganda tool for anyone and everyone !. Check out www.globalsecurity.org as it presents (what I consider) to be a reasonable good summary of the insurgency.
As for conspiracy theories we have to be careful - there are, afterall, websites promoting the theory that the earth is actually flat !.
