Petrel Resources - moderated discussion/research part II

Simon K - Thu, 28 Dec 06 :

Yes it is pure speculation as to whether PET will get another contract or two but you are a gambler SS, "the odds" suggest they have a decent chance. Put it this way, I would be surprised now if they didn't land several more deals along the corporate path in which they have embarked.

As you know, the company has had a presence in Iraq both leading up to the war and they have built significant bridges in the period since, including forming good relations with the new regime. Their relations with the authorities as well as the significance of their Japanese financial backers cannot be understated. I understand PET's Management have hosted seminars with the MOI and you highlighted the excellent OPEC interview, which David Horgan gave on the world stage for oil in September.

What will be of major significance for PET will be the ratification of the hydocarbon law, which will see their existing contract given a very major shot in the arm.

I tell it as I see it, having invested a lot of time and money into this situation and, whilst I have not posted like crazy during the preceding months, I have not wavered from my firm belief that PET will succeed with their corporate strategy in the Middle East.

The world in which PET are about to find themselves, will be very different indeed and that time is almost upon us.
