There is no reason for Petrel staff to be at site this year. The work
is engineering design and procurement in this phase. SCOP is
responsible for site preparation. Equipment is delivered to site during
2007.
We have had engineers and surveyors at site when necessary. There have
been no insuperable problems. The permanent staff on location are our
clients, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil South Oil Co.
Logistics seem pretty straightforward: we can truck directly from Basra
or nearby port. Alternatively we can truck from Kuwait. Saudi Arabian
and Iranian access is also open. One of the advantages of S+L is good
road access. There will be security but the challenge is low compared
to central or northern Iraq.
So far the logistics have not been a problem. We have excellent
relations with the local people and government. They have been very
helpful.
